Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about the Okanagan Summer Intensive? Well, you've come to the right spot! Scroll below as I answer your most burning questions. Did I miss something? Shoot me an email and I'll be happy to help in any way I can!

Who is eligible to participate and what are the age requirements?

This is an Intensive designed for competitive dancers who are looking for a challenge and to level up their skills and training.
Mini/Jun
ior: Ages 7-12 (it's recommended that the younger dancers, 7 & 8 yrs be at a full-time competitive level)

Intermediate/Senior: Ages 13+

What are the hours and what classes will be included?

Hours are from 10am-5pm for both Mini/Junior and Intermediate/Senior dancers.

There will be a mix of technique classes along with choreography classes; you'll get a chance to come and watch their routines at the end of the day. Dancers will also be put through a mock audition and learn certain skills that are beneficial when auditioning. Goal and vision setting is an important factor in every day life, not just in dance, so there will be a small workbook the dancers will be able to work through and stay accountable to as they head into the next dance season.

Who are the instructors and what are their qualifications?

Nicole Byfield will be instructing both days! She holds her teacher's certification from the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association in Tap and has been teaching for the past 17 years. She is well known in the industry as a sought after choreographer and adjudicator and you can learn more about her by clicking here!

Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants allowed?

To ensure enough dancing space and quality attention is given to the dancers, a maximum of 30 students will be permitted each day.
Email Nicole@NicoleByfield.com to register and secure your spot!

What are the fees and payment options for the summer dance intensive?

The cost is $165/dancer and payment can be made via e-transfer.
Payments can be made in full or split in half to make budgeting easier:
50% deposit due at time of registration and the remaining balance due July 22nd, 2023

Are meals provided, or do participants need to bring their own food?

Lunch is not provided and I recommend bringing healthy food/snacks that will keep the dancers fuelled and ready to take on multiple hours of dance. A small fridge is available but it's a dorm-sized fridge and can only hold so much!

Is there a performance or showcase at the end of the summer dance intensive?

Families can come at 4:30pm for a showcase of routines and feedback on the day!

Where is the intensive held?

Lake Country School of Dance
